Science Fair

Out of 400 sixth grade students at VMS, 50 were chosen to attend the Colorado Northwestern Community College Annual Science Fair in Rangely, CO.  Stephanie was one of the fifty chosen to attend. So this last Friday, Brian and I went with Stephanie to the science fair. There were a lot of creative projects and even though Stephanie did not take place in any of the categories, I'm still so proud that she even did a science project and that it was selected to go. Way to go!

While we were there, the kids got to check out the biology lab and the physics lab. In the biology lab, the students got to hold a brain and lungs and heart from a cadaver. The whole experience was really interesting. I just hope that Stephanie will start to take an interest in school now because we have been trying so hard to impress upon her how important an education is. So hopefully being in the college setting will give her the incentive to start getting better grades.

The Concert

Last weekend Brian and I went to the city for our anniversary. We did some shopping for Easter and for Wyatt's birthday that is coming up. Then we went to the George Strait concert. He was really good but I have to say I absolutely loved Reba. She really interacted with the audience.

                                                         Reba
                                           Lee Ann Womack & Reba
                                          Melissa Peterman & Reba

                                          And of course, George Strait

This George Strait concert was so much better than the one we went to in Las Vegas about 5 years ago.

And on a side note, I have such a wonderful husband! Look what I got while shopping!

Now all I have to do is figure out how to use it.

The Leprechaun That Got Away!

Early this morning as I was getting ready for work I could hear Wyatt talking. It was still pretty early and I hadn't woke any of the kids up. I thought maybe he was just talking in his sleep. I whispered to him that it wasn't time to get up yet and to go back to sleep for a little bit.
Then he says something about a leprechaun. At this point I still think he is talking in his sleep so I tell him that St. Patrick's Day was yesterday. Then I hear this "Oh Man, I guess I didn't catch him" as he realizes that it is no longer St. Patrick's Day. He was so disappointed. So I turned on the light and this is what I found:
Wyatt's version of a Leprechaun Trap!  He'd got up last night after I had tucked him in bed and set the trap. Too bad he didn't catch one!

A Quick Getaway!

So on Friday my wonderful husband decided we needed a weekend away. Just the two of us! It all started while I was at work. He texted me and and asked if I could get off early and that we could be in Vegas by 9. I thought he was just joking. But as our texts went on I realized he was serious. Then my next text from him was "BTW I'm Serious"! At that point it was 1:00 PM and time for me to get off work anyway. So I rushed home to start getting ready to go. By the time we got ahold of Brian's sister Tiffany to see if she would stay with the kids, and we got packed, it was 4:00 P.M. We left town with no plans and no hotel reservations. 9 hours later (1 AM) we arrive in Las Vegas. We were pretty exhausted so we checked into our hotel and went to bed.
The next day we got up and just walked the strip and did a lot of window shopping. It was so nice to be in warm weather. I think it was in the high 60's. Then that evening we went to a show. We decided to see Phantom. It was an awesome production. They put on a very good show. Plus it was even better because we were only 8 rows from the front!

Sunday morning we got up early and made the long drive home. We were both pretty sad to leave. It went by so quickly. But it was so worth the drive to get away and have some alone time together.
Thank you so much Tiffany for watching the kids for us even though you will be watching them again in a few weekends.

A Special Day!

Saturday was a very special day! Both of my girls were baptized by their father. We have had a rough couple of years but we are finally getting back on track. In December we mentioned to the Bishopric that the girls were eager to be baptized. So the first part of January, the Missionaries stopped by our house to ask if we would like to have the disscussions. We of course said "Yes" and then two nights a week the Missionaries would come over to give the kids a lesson. It was really nice to open our home to the Missionaries. We even got to feed them dinner a couple of times and got to know them really well. I have to say that we enjoyed it so much we plan to continue inviting the Missionaries over for dinner as often as we can. We were so blessed to have so many family members and friends attend and support us. After the baptism, we had a dinner, but it was so crazy I didn't get to take any pictures. Here are some pictures from before the baptism.

Surgery

Last Friday Stephanie had surgery to have her tonsils and adenoids removed and tubes placed in her ears. Here she is at the hospital before they took her back for surgery.
